Retiring Houndstooth & Stripes Emboss Folders

I have 2 card samples to show today & for both I used the Big Shot with Embossing Folders for the backgrounds.  The brown card uses the Houndstooth folder and the flower card uses the Stripes folder.

You can find these folders shown side by side on page 191 of the current AC (annual catalog).  These 2 folders WILL NOT be in the new AC (remember I have the new book to prove it) !

If you have any questions about these cards, please let me know.  Lori

Yippee- New SU Catalog Premiere in St. Louis, MO

.........and I WAS THERE!

Yes, the event was held, very well attended in the U.S. and Canada, and yours truly has the FABULOUS new 2014-15 StampinUP catalog in my hot little hands!!

I would like to share a picture of the cover (thats all SU allows) and also a pic of the 4 of us who attended from our little group.  We had a very fun time hanging out with each other and of course seeing some of the brand new products being used first hand.......via satellite in an IMAX THEATER.

We all took home our new catalog of course, a brand new stamp set, and I was lucky enough to win a "Prize Patrol" extra little gift (3 of the new In-Color Ink Pads).  I was excited about that naturally.  Gotta love free stuff!!

I will be ordering my cases of new catalogs on May 1st so please drop me a note here or e-mail me at:  stampinfool2006@yahoo.com to reserve your very own copy.

About the card today.......it was made by Bonnie A. (pic below). She used some of the Watercolor Wonder Designer Washi Tape and the Bakers Twine (gold). I was happy to see both of these 2 items from the current Mini Catty are carried over to the new book.

Thanks-  Lori

And the star of the show.........

Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die & Petite Petals

Yes, it's time again for blogging by Bonnie....... (thanks my friend for sharing all your samples I've been posting).  I taught her everything she knows--hee hee.

Anyway, with this card Bonnie used Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper (pg. 23-mini).  She also used the Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die on pg. 26 (also mini catty) and the Petite Petals Bundle from there as well.  Beautiful card B.A. !

This morning I will be heading to St. Louis for the NEW CATALOG PREMIERE with StampinUP !!
Can't wait to be a part of this new event that SU is holding in various parts of the country.  Should be very exciting and of course I will come back to IL with my brand new catty in hand !

Thanks for stopping by.  Lori Helvick

Another Great Year & Tag Topper Punches

The card today was made by Bonnie A. once again.  (Thank you Bonnie for sharing your samples on my blog) !

The color scheme used:  Coastal Cabana, Real Red, and White.

From the current Mini Catty, Bonnie used the stamp set Another Great Year (pg. 34).  Also, from that mini on pg. 35 she used both the Angled Tag and Scalloped Tag Topper Punches.  Very cute card with a different way of closing!

Thank you........Lori

StampinUP Retires Dress UP (I'm Sad)

The card today was made by Bonnie, and features the Dress Up Framelits (pg. 187 Annual Catalog).  I hate to see this framelit set retire because it was fun creating doll clothes!!

SU is also retiring the Dress Form Pop N Cuts (pg. 188-AC).  This and the framelits go hand in hand together so if you would like to get these for your stamping collection please let me know.

Thank you and enjoy your day!

Lori

Saying Good-Bye to StampinUP Simply Stars

This card was made by my friend Bonnie A. and she used Black, Gold, and White as her color scheme.

The Gold Foil Sheet she used as a layer came from the Mini Catalog (pg. 23).  Bonnie used Apothecary Accents (Big Shot) for the white pc. with the words.  The stamp set Simply Stars is retiring soon, and can be found on page 124 of the big catty.

Thanks Bonnie for allowing me to take pics of your handy work!

Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper

Todays card was made with stamps from the current Mini Catty--Happy Watercolor.  Colors I used:  Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Garden Green and White CS.

I put a big pearl in the center of the flower, and the textured background was made with the Big Shot and the Woodgrain embossing folder.  Of course, I stamped all of the images before I ran the white CS thru the folder.

The actual card itself was made with the RETIRING Natural Composition Specialty Designer Series Paper (that's a mouthful) !  This is shown on page 150 of the big catty for $12.95.  I have used the heck out of this very cool paper and I am sad to see it retire.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the card post of the day.  Thanks for visiting my blog.

Cycle Celebration & Starburst Sayings

There has been all kinds of "folding box/card" ideas floating around out on the internet.  I do not know the proper name for these, but I have yet to try making one myself.

I did get one for Easter from Marilyn S. (see yesterday's post).  Then I took pictures of todays' version that was made by my friend Bonnie A. and C.A.S.E.D. from Sandi M.

These 3 pics don't really do the project justice, but it is a 3-D kind of a box to sit up and then it will go flat to mail like a card.  VERY COOL!   Like I said, I have not made one..... but if you have questions, I will try to find the answers for you.

Enjoy this Birthday Card!  Lori Helvick

Easter Cards Recd (Fun Mail)

I'm ashamed to say I did not send out one Easter Card this year!  I apologize to my friends for dropping the ball on this but I was getting the house ready for company on Sunday.  (We had 14 people over for Easter Dinner & the house needed some MAJOR attention ahead of time.)

Anyway, thought I would post the cards I recd from others.  I always love to get hand-stamped cards in the mail, don't you?  I like to call those "Fun Mail"!

Thanks very much for you gals who sent a card......I truly appreciate your time & effort.  Lori

Secret Garden Stamp Set & Framelits

I used Vanilla and Gumball Green CS and gumball ribbon of course.  The 2 flowers and 2 vines that are raised up were cut out with the Secret Garden Framelit Dies.

The colors of the stamped flowers are:  Rose Red, Blushing Bride, and Daffodil Delight.  I added a couple jewels to the 2 red flowers and that was that!  A very simple card.......and the words came from "Petite Pairs".

Thanks!

Flower Shop Bundle & Fancy Fan Embossing Folder

The Color Scheme for todays card is:  Pear Pizzazz, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, and Vanilla.

I stamped 4 flowers on the vanilla CS before I ran it thru the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  I used one single flower and punched it out for the bottom left side.  Pretty quick and simple.

Thanks for stopping by.......Lori Helvick.

Owl Builder Punch & Woodgrain Embossing Folder

The card today is sort of fall-like but it would make a good masculine card any time of the year I think.

I used the stamp set "Gently Falling" for the 2 leaves and yes, I had to "fussy-cut" those!  Unfortunately, StampinUP does NOT have a punch or a framelit for EVERY stamped image.......darn it anyway! (smile)

The Crumb Cake CS was textured with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  I also used the Owl Builder Punch for the cute little guy sitting in the leaves.  The small green vines were made with the Bird Builder Punch.

I hope you enjoy the card sample of the day, and please tell a friend about my blog.  Lori

Gorgeous Grunge & Label Love

This is a really quick & simple card using a strip of Washi Tape, a Basic Metal Button, and Bakers Twine as embellishments.

My color scheme used:  Old Olive, Coastal Cabana, Calypso Coral, White CS and a bit of silver Glimmer Paper.

I used the Starburst Framelit Die (mini- pg. 34) to cut the textured olive CS.  The 2 stamp sets used are Gorgeous Grunge (one of my favs) and Label Love.  Of course I used the matching Artisan Label Punch to cut out the Happy B-Day from that set.

I hope you enjoy the sample, and please ck back tomorrow where I will post some retired StampinUP items on sale from my stash!!

Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Todays card has the color scheme of:  Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Real Red and Pacific Point.

I used the Big Shot Bitty Banners Framelit, and the Postage Stamp Punch and a square punch as well.  I used a couple old fashioned brads (as opposed to Candy Dots).

Out of the current mini catalog (page 26), I used the Big Shot Arrows Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I glued the yellow and blue layers of CS together BEFORE I textured them.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Fancy Foil Designer Vellum & Secret Garden

This card project was made with Vanilla CS and Crisp Cantaloupe.

Also, from the current mini catalog-- I used Gold Sequin Trim, Gold Bakers Twine, and Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.

The flowers came from the stamp set "Secret Garden".  I just grouped the 6 flowers somewhat together and then cut out around the bottom portion after stamping.

It was pretty simple to make this card, but if you have any questions please let me know.

Thank you.

Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack & Starburst Sayings

Hello all.......today I'm sharing a class project from last month.  Color scheme includes:  Real Red, Coastal Cabana, Crumb Cake and White.

I used the Starburst Sayings set from pg 34 in the current StampinUP mini catalog.  I also used the matching Starburst Framelit Die (from the same page).  The 2 strips of designer paper come from the paper stack called Fresh Prints (pg 33- mini).

If you have any questions about this project, please send an e-mail to:  stampinfool2006@yahoo.com or respond here.  If you live in the Peoria, IL area and are interested in attending stamping classes, please let me know that as well and I will give you my schedule!!

Thanks-  Lori

Delicate Designs Embossing Folder & Peaceful Petals

I used retired Designer Series Paper on todays card...........shh!!- please don't tell the SU Police!  (I think I would be ok, even if someone did turn me in). --smile--

Anyway, everything else is current StampinUP Product.  My color scheme is:  Sahara Sand, Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, and White.

The embossing strip came from the 2-Pack Big Shot Folders called "Delicate Designs".  The flower image came from the current mini catalog set called "Peaceful Petals".  I added 3 jewels to the stamped flower (after I used 3 colors of Markers).

Thanks for the look-see........

Petite Petals Punch & Perfect Polka Dots Emboss Folder

make a pretty cute flower pot!!

This pull-out card was made by Julie S. and I thought I would share her good idea.  She used the recent Sale A Bration set called You're Lovely for the inside part that comes out.

Julie also used the Petite Petals Punch (times 2), the Perfect Polka Dots Emboss Folder, and the Beautiful Wings Embosslits-- just to name a few of the items.

The color scheme used was:  Real Red, Old Olive, So Saffron and White.

If you have any questions, please let me know and I will try to help you out with Julie's idea.

Thanks-

Lori Helvick

Oval Accent Bigz Clear Big Shot Die & Secret Garden

This card was made with retired Designer Series Paper, but hey....... we know how to substitute with what we have right?

Anyway, I used the matching bundle (Secret Garden Stamp Set & Framelits).  So easy to cut out all those flowers when we are done stamping!!

I also used the Big Shot Beautiful Wings Embosslit for the yellow butterflies on this card.  I finished off with some jewels to add a little bling to the flowers and butterflies.

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Thanks for visiting.

Sweet Sorbet Designer Series Paper

Even though Sale-A-Bration 2014 is now over, it's still good to get ideas for some of the products that you might have earned for FREE.

The Stamp Set called Petal Parade was a freebie and I used that for these 2 cards.  Also, I used the freebie paper called Sweet Sorbet.

I noticed after the fact that one of the pearls had fallen off, but you get the idea.  Use some ribbon and candy dots (or pearls or jewels) to embellish as you see fit.  Otherwise, these cards are pretty simple to duplicate.

Thanks for stopping by-

Lori
