WOW Demonstration- Late Night Stampers

I can't remember who did this card for a demo at our pre-convention events.  If someone knows, tell me please, so I can give the demo credit.

The dual image idea is pretty neat though, wouldn't you agree?  I like the colors she used too.

Also, if you have not joined in on the LNS TREASURE HUNT BLOG HOP, there is still plenty of time to join the fun.  Scroll down for the original post on this, and a few additional add-on blogs as well on a more recent post.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Now for the card sample...........

Faux Metal Makes Butterfly Shine

Several years ago, I did a technique book with my customers and stamping friends.  One of the techniques that we did was "Faux Metal" which is a very cool (or should I say-hot) technique.  You use a versamark pad, and embossing power, and keep heating up the powder like 4 times with our StampinUP heat gun.  On the last time while the powder is still hot, stamp your image. Very Cool !

Please ask if you need further instructions.

Todays card sample was done at our pre-Convention events with Late Night Stampers.  Watching all the "Wow" demos was my most favorite part of LNS activities.  Here you go.........

I would love to hear from you please.     Thanks much-     Lori

Big Shot Embossing Folders

I mentioned yesterday, that I love all the embossing folders (and have them all).  Today's sample uses 2 of them- square lattice and perfect polka dots.

This card was a 3-D swap at convention and I think it is adorable for a new baby.  I love the punch art for the body.  The layout is called an "Easel" card.  Please let me know if you need more details.

Happy Stamping !     Lori

Square Lattice Embossing Folder

The featured card of the day would make a nice fall or Thanksgiving card.  It was made by Tami M. from Late Night Stampers at Convention.

She used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder for the Early Espresso CS.  Of course I have ALL the StampinUP Embossing Folders! (I love them).  The one Tami used for this card is especially one of my favorites though.

You can check this folder out (and all of the other ones too) on pg. 191 of the big catalog.  If you still need a copy of the brand new 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog please contact me at:
stampinfool2006@yahoo.com

Thanks-   Lori

Oh, Hello by StampinUP

It's that time again to join my "Stamp of the Month Club".  Do you know what this is all about?  Please read on............

STAMP SET + COMPLETED CARD SAMPLES = INSPIRATION IN YOUR MAILBOX !!

Both beginner and novice stampers can benefit by adding a new stamp set to your collection every month. Along with each stamp set, you will get 3 finished projects using the featured set each month. You are sure to be inspired by these actual cards, NOT just the kits. I will include a "recipe" each month so you can use your own supplies to duplicate the cards on your own if you choose or of course you may order supplies at anytime if needed. (Participants will get a free gift from me if they order anything on the supply list after receiving your projects).

In summary, you will receive a pkg. in the mail that includes:

* Stamp Set of the Month- clear mount set valued between $14.95-$ 18.95

* 3 Handmade projects completed for you with the featured stamp set

* Recipe for supplies needed to duplicate at a later date

My new Stamp of the Month Club will cost $30 a month which will include the above items and of course the shipping. When you participate in 3 consecutive months, you will get $5 off the 4th month. You can join anytime and opt out at anytime you wish.

For the month of September the featured set is "Oh, Hello" on page 34 in the current catalog. If you do not have a new catty, please let me know and I can get you one if you join the club. (For now, I could just send you a picture of the featured set so you will know what it looks like.)

The good news is, if you already have this set or do not care for it, you can substitute. The Oh, Hello set is $18.95 in clear mount, so you can pick another set for equal or lesser value if you choose to take advantage of this option.

If you would like to participate, please mail $30 to Lori Helvick, PO BOX 68 Mapleton, IL 61547. All payments must be received by Sept. 6th, and then I will order all the stamp sets after that and get things mailed out once the order comes in. If you have any questions, please let me know and I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you very much-

Lori Helvick

Shelli Cards

(Please note- this is my third post today, so hopefully I have redeemed myself a little after being "missing in action"  for 2 or 3 days)

Todays featured card samples were made by Shelli Gardner, and displayed on-stage at convention.

The first example used the ever popular set "Gorgeous Grunge"- pg. 109 (attendees recd this one). I really do love this set, and it goes great with WASHI TAPE ! (smile) She used the new In Color Boutique Details- pg. 169 for the center of the butterfly- (Beautiful Butterfly Big Shot Die-pg 192)

The 2nd card is a "spinner" card and is a very cute card using the "Sketched Birthday" set on pg. 13.   Every time I make a spinner card, I can't resist playing with it before I mail it out.  It makes me smile every time!

If you have no idea what a spinner card is or does, please post a comment here, or send an email to:  stampinfool2006@yahoo.com    I can explain the procedure, and they are way easy to produce.

Also, if you would like to take a closer look or purchase any of the items mentioned in this post, you may visit my on-line store by going to:  www.createwithlori.stampinup.net  Thank you.

Here you go- enjoy..........

Faux Canvas Technique & Washi Tape #1

Recently, I have been making samples with the Stamping Tech called "Faux Canvas".  The main ingredient used with this concept is SU Crystal Effects.  Today's sample was made using the Faux Canvas Technique and the stamp set Clockworks.

Colors used:  Vanilla CS, Black, Crushed Curry, and Old Olive.  I used black staz-on pad and a couple black "candy dots".  Notice the olive washi tape in 2 corners.  Gotta love that Washi Tape !

The technique in itself is easy to do and you just apply the Crystal Effects with an old toothbrush.  You  brush on 2 layers in 2 different directions and let dry over night......the hardest part is waiting :)If you have any questions, let me know.

I will be posting these samples for 3 days total most likely.  (I've been having fun creating with Faux Canvas).  Watch for future samples all made with this glossy look and all have Washi Tape.

Enjoy this great masculine card idea.               Lori

Oops- Picture TOO Big!

Coming Soon!

Did I ever mention, I DO NOT know what I'm doing with this blog!  :)

Anyway, I will be participating in a Demo Treasure Hunt Blog Hop beginning on August 20th.

Punch Art

Todays card samples are kind of fun and whimsical.  The first one was taken on a display board at convention if I remember correctly.  The 2nd one was made at a punch art class I had a long time ago.  There are SO many "punch art" ideas out there, it is hard to remember where the inspiration came from originally.  Lori

Sometimes I forget to change the date on my camera, but I know this little guy was not made in 2007 !

Washi Tape Shaker Card

As I have mentioned several times, Washi Tape is becoming my new best friend in the SU world !

Decorative Label Punch- MDS vs. Punch

Both the card samples this evening used StampinUPs Decorative Label Punch.  The first one was created in MDS and printed out.  Just by looking at the white decor label punch, you would never know it was not the actual punch.  Ck out the ribbon- it is perfectly flat (MDS again).  This convention swap was made my Sherrill Graff of Nevada.  She is the leader of the Late Night Stamper Group.

The 2nd convention swap was made by Kellie King of CA.  She actually stamped her image and punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch.  The butterfly on this card was made even more beautiful by 3 "jewels".

Thank you LNS swappers for your inspiration!                  Lori

*********************************************************************************
Although paper trimmers are a common crafting tool, this trimmer was designed exclusively by paper crafters for paper crafters AND because it was made by Stampin' Up!, you know it's a cut above the rest!
Features of the All-New Stampin' Trimmer

An extra-wide 6-1/4" cutting base and an extended 14-1/2" ruler
    • The extra-wide cutting base provides a large work area and is marked in 1/4" (4 mm) increments, allowing for small measurements.
    • The right-side grid helps you measure and cut very thin strips.
    • The extended cutting arm has a stabilizing leg to provide a sturdy and steady cutting surface for longer cuts.
    • When fully extended, the extended cutting arm sits flush with the trimmer base, providing more accurate and consistent measurements across the entire surface.
    • The cutting base and track include a full ruler, incorporating measurements down to 1/16" and grid lines that mark each quarter inch.
    • All rulers and measurements on the base are printed under a plastic cover so your measurements won't wear off.
    • The base has nonskid feet, which keeps the Stampin' Trimmer securely in place on your work area.
  • A full 12" cutting and scoring track
    • The extra-long cutting track has space at the top and bottom so you don't have to take the cutting and scoring blades out when you're not using them.
    • The track gives you enough space to cut or score a full 12" (30.5 cm) without having to remove or switch out handles.
    • The cutting track locks in place for secure storage or transport.
    • The track includes an insertion point for cutting and scoring blade handles so you can easily insert handles into the cutting track.
  • Specially designed handles and cutting track to ensure straight cuts
    • The hook on the scoring and cutting blade handles keeps the handles stable so the cuts are as straight as possible.
    • Handles come in two colors: dark for cutting, light for scoring.
    • The precision tip on the cutting blade allows you to pinpoint precisely where you're cutting.
    • The point on the side of each handle shows you where the blade will cut, making it easy to see exactly where your cuts and scores will begin.
  • Storage compartment under base
    • The storage compartment holds scoring and cutting tools such as a Bone Folder, Simply Scored Stylus, extra scoring and cutting blades, and even business cards.
    • Separate compartments within the storage compartment keep your tools organized, and the clear cover makes it easy to see what you've stored.

  • Stamp of the Month Club-  for those who orderd the "Clockworks", I will send the pkg. in a couple days.  Please watch for the Sept. featured stamps to be announced very soon.
  • Ideas,Tips, & Tricks for your purchases-  I just have to say "let me make all the mistakes so you don't have to" !  Now, I do not claim to know everything about all of the SU products, but I would like to think that I have learned some things by practicing.  (I practice alot).
  • Demonstrator Website- I offer convenient on-line ordering, and an events calendar on my SU website.  www.createwithlori.stampinup.net

P.S.  I LOVE STAMPIN UP, AND I LOVE BEING A DEMO FOR THIS GREAT COMPANY

***********************************************************************************

Today's card inspiration was made by me for a recent class project.  Hope you enjoy!  Colors used: P. Pudding and I. Indigo.  I used some new product I would like to highlight:  Pretty Print Emboss Folder (pg. 24 Holiday mini) and Venetian Romance DSP (pg. 153 Big Catty).  Also, I used the Chalk Talk Bundle (page 12 and 187).  If you missed a blog post awhile back, I will say it again.........LOVE THOSE SU BUNDLES!

Would you like to host a class at your home?

I'm currently searching for anyone who would like to host a class in your very own neck of the woods.  I will travel to meet you and 4 or 5 friends in the city you live, as long as you reside in Central IL and are in one of the following counties:

Peoria
Knox
Tazewell
Fulton
Woodford

Right now I do monthly classes in Knoxville and the Peoria area exclusively, but am willing to take my "act on the road" as they say.  I charge a minimal fee to make 3 hand-stamped projects, and these could be cards, 3-D items, or scrapbooking pages and would be the choice of the Hostess.  (The class fee will be determined by the projects the Hostess has chosen).

Your friends are under NO obligation to make a StampinUP purchase and are only charged the class fee.  Whether you invite "newbies" or "seasoned" stampers, they all can walk away with cute projects and hopefully will be inspired to create more!  :)

If you have any questions about this new idea of mine, please let me know.  Otherwise, take a look at one of my class projects we made the other night in Pekin.

Thanks-
Lori

Be a Hostess & get SIMPLY SKETCHED

Today I'm featuring the Hostess stamp set "Simply Sketched".  If you have a book party, or in-home workshop, you can earn this set with your Hostess Credit Dollars (page 205).  As long as your total orders come to $150 or more, you will qualify for FREE StampUP product!  Please e-mail me at stampinfool2006@yahoo.com or leave a post here if you need more details of our Hostess Program.

Now, on with the stamped cards !  Both artists used the little bird stamp from the set & sponged around the outside to highlight.  Left- Denise from Canada and Right- Gale from Port Deposit, MD.  It is very fun to see where all my convention swap cards come from.  I usually don't care if there is a recipe on the back or not, as long as I have a name and location of demo.

Check back tomorrow (Saturday) to see what I have for sale!

"MANLY, YES- BUT I LIKE IT TOO"

I know I'm dating myself here, but does anyone else remember that Irish Spring soap commercial ?  That popped into my head a couple days ago for some reason so thought I would use that one-liner and show a couple manly cards that I like too.

Both Sheila and Diane (swaps) made these cards using the stamp set WETLANDS.  I have this set and like the versatility.  I like the word stamps it comes with as well.

If you have questions about these samples, please leave a post here or send an e-mail to:

QUATREFANCY SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

This morning I would like to feature StampinUP QUATREFANCY SPECIALTY DESIGNER SERIES PAPER.

The first sample was made by Kjerstine of Canada.  She also used the Mosaic Madness stamp set and the Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder.  Colors used:  White, Pumpkin, Daffodil, Strawberry Slush and Island Indigo.

The sample on the right was made by me and used the same DSP with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder.  I used daffodil and white CS and this was one of my convention swaps I traded out to other demos.  Do you like?

Please take note of the little yellow brad in the center of the circle combo.  This is one of our latest and greatest SU items......CANDY DOTS!  Love em, love em!  They are adhesive-backed and come in all the StampinUP colors.  Ck them out on pg 171 in the current book and at only $5.95 a pkg. you can own all 4 color families!

Just For Kids

Good morning........I found a couple convention swaps that would make cute cards for kids.  The lego-like card made by Shirley B. from Canada was pretty clever I thought.  Colors used:  White, Black, Real Red and Daffodil.  Each of the "pegs" were made with 5 circles glued on top of each other to achieve the height desired along with a dimentional.

The Smile card used STAMPIN UP CIRCLE TREAT CUPS (pg 160, for $2.95).  Lori R. put some sort of tiny shells in the cup to make a shaker card.  Very cute design, and again, great for a kid.
Colors used:  White, Tangerine, & Bermuda Bay CS.

Thanks for checking in today.  Lori

SUMMER SILHOUETTES BY STAMPIN UP

Hi again.....after I posted my sale items earlier it dawned on me I have not shown card samples in a couple days (sorry about that).  Anyway, my Convention Swaps will really take me a long way and I will get some mileage out of those. LOL

The stamp set featured in both cards is called SUMMER SILHOUETTES (item number 126447, clear mount @ $17.95).  A couple other new items used in the right-hand card were LABEL LOVE and its coordinating punch.  Creators are Daria G. (left) and Kim S. (right).

Please let me know if you have any questions on colors or product used.

Stamp Happy!

SATURDAY SUPER STAMP SALE

I thought since I have a blog now, I would sell some retired things at a big discount.  The below items are 40% off the original price except for Hostess sets which are marked down 25%.   All of these are clear mount & are in the big catalog that just retired.  It should be easy to look up the set and see if it would be a nice addition to your stamp collection.  If you are interested please post a comment here, email me at stampinfool2006@yahoo.com, or call 309-221-5241.  Its on a first-come, first-serve basis.  So don't delay!

Just so you know, I plan to do this quite often on Saturdays and always before 1:00 in the afternoon.  If it is after 1:00, then that means I do not have items to sell that particular week.  (I had a class this morning and something else going on after that, so today is an exception to any future Sat. sales.)

Of course if you live far away, I can ship to you and that fee can be discussed when you purchase stamps.  If I know you, and will see you at a class or workshop, I will personally deliver your item or items to you.

Ok, here you go.........if you have questions, please let me know.
