I played with this technique at a stamping retreat the first part of August. (just now getting around to sharing- sorry). The top card is my personal favorite I think of the 5 or 6 that I made. I love the fall colors of Stampin' Blends used along with the golden glitzy leaves!!
Here are a few StampinUP products used:
--Stitched Rectangle Dies
--Artistically Inked Stamp Set
--Stitched Leaves Dies
--Gold & Rose Gold 6 x 6 Metallic Specialty Paper
--Vellum Card Stock
--Stampin' Blends
--Metallic Pearls
(Recommend using Isopropyl Alcohol thats 90% or higher)
If you would like to give this technique a try, simply "scribble" the brush tip of stampin' blends in various colors. Use a squirt bottle or spritzer to apply a little bit of alcohol. Let the colors bleed a little but not much or it becomes to muddy looking. On this creation, I added some Wink of Stella and "flicked" some pink specks from the stampin' blend as the vellum was drying.
I used the Scalloped Contours and Penned Flowers Dies. The Biggest Wish stamp set was used with the colors of Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo.

On this creation, besides the featured suite, the new Pale Papaya ribbon was used. Stitched So Sweetly Dies are responsible for cutting the White and Pear Pizzazz smaller layers. The artist/designer did some coloring with Sponge Daubers too on this easy card from a display. Which sample do you like the best?

The Smoky Slate "bridge piece" was cut at 3 in. by 11 inches. You then score at 4 1/2 and at 9 inches. If you have questions beyond these measurements, please let me know.
For my creation today, I used the following StampinUP Products:

On the right hand side, I punched out 3 of the Smoky Slate images with the Elegant Tag Punch. Just tucked them under the gold strip. The Simply Elegant Paper I used, is simply gorgeous!!

This card begins with a thick white card base. I added a strip of designer paper to the Poppy Parade pc. before embossing the whole thing with the Painted Texture 3D folder.
I used stitched dies for the 2 white layers. The Double Oval punch was used, along with Stampin' Blends to color the flower image from Painted Poppies. This was a favorite selection from my recent Calorie-Free Card Buffet!! What do YOU think? Let me know please.
My creation below includes a basic black card base with white card stock inside of course. The designer paper pattern is retired but still good for this card wouldn't you agree? Both these cards were an option to make on my recent Card Buffet. Card #1 uses the retired StampinUP "Subtle" embossing folder. Card #2 features last years Misty Moonlight designer paper. I think all other items are current StampinUP products. The little older guy was fun to color with Stampin' Blends and I think the deer looks just fine not colored at all.
