Butterflies Thinlits Dies Stick Around

Single Stamp- Vivid Vases & Weekly Tip

This card today was on display at a demo event in Champaign, IL.  I'm sorry I don't remember who I need to give credit to for this cute card.

If I was a betting woman I would say the creator used Staz On Ink.  Also, the designer stamped the image again 5 times on pcs. of "All Abloom" Designer Paper Stack.  Once you have the vases stamped on pretty paper, simply fussy cut, and glue the images over your main image already stamped on the card stock.  I can't remember what this is called, but you can bet it has a fancy technique name just like everything else in the stamping world!  LOL

TIP OF THE WEEK: When you are wanting to use a black ink pad, which do you choose?
I can tell you what not to use.......our older Basic Black pad.  The really old ones turned purple (at least mine did, and the more recent ones took forever to dry!!  StampinUP pulled both the Basic Black & Basic Gray because of these quality issues.  We will eventually get something to replace those.

In the meantime........the Staz On Ink is permanent & great for stamping images to watercolor. Also it's great for nonporous surfaces.  Staz On is a good choice for rubber stamps but NOT good for photopolymer.

The Tuxedo Black Memento Pad is the best choice (for now) for the photopolymer stamps.

I HAVE BOTH & USE BOTH FOR DIFFERENT THINGS!!

Bitty Butterfly Punch & Butterflies Thinlit Dies

The first card features the ever-popular StampinUP set "Kinda Eclectic" (in the new book too).  With this set, I used the smaller "Bitty Butterfly" punch times 2.  Color Scheme:  Hello Honey, Blackberry Bliss, Mossy Meadow, Tangelo Twist and White.  The thank you came from "Sassy Salutations" (also carried over, luckily).

Card # two features "Butterflies Thinlit Dies" (shown in new StampinUP catty- pg. 172).  Also, I used the stamp set "Summer Silhouettes" and the "Chalk Talk Framelits".  Both these items are in the new book as well.  Color Scheme:  So Saffron, Garden Green, Elegant Eggplant, and White.

This saffron & garden green card was one of the choices in my last "All You Can Eat Card Buffet" !

Going, Going, Gone- "A Fitting Occasion" & "Blue Ribbon"

My Saturday post features a couple Stampin'UP retiring sets.  The first card used A Fitting Occasion Stamp Set shown on page 140 in the CURRENT catalog.  The 2nd card below used the Blue Ribbon Stamp Set from page 136.

Just a little something about each project.......

Card #1-  I made for a May class & some of the gals used "Happy Graduation" for the words instead.  The Designer Series Paper is retired, but you could use something else of course.  I used the Floral Frames Collection Framelits for the green part of the tree.  (these ARE carried over to new book). The Modern Label Punch is retiring and I must say, I'm really going to miss that!  Color Scheme:  So Saffron, Vanilla, Garden Green, and Early Espresso.

Card #2-  Made by Sue Scheets for a recent demo swap.  This is a Washi Tape Shaker Card!  Sue put star confetti inside the vellum.  The Starburst Framelits are going out very soon.  Color Scheme:  Black, White and Silver.  Thanks Sue for your inspiration :)

New- Build a Birthday Set & Weekly Tip

I made todays card for a friend of mine in Galesburg IL.  After I took my picture, I also added her name on the front (which happens to have 5 letters).  This brand new set is so cute and easy to personalize if all your friends and family have 5 letters in their name (smile).

Anyway, along with the "Build a Birthday" stamp set I used the Cherry on Top Designer Washi Tape and Paper Stack of the same name.  All 3 of these items are in the new Stampin'UP catalog which will go live on June 2nd.

TIP:  When you buy a new stamp pad, you might want to try what I've been doing to my newest ones. Simply cut off a little pc. of the colored label (from other language) and stick it inside your open ink pad.  I've found when you have 3 or 4 colors open at the same time, its hard to tell by looking what exactly each color of pad really is.  You put the color name on the outside of your pad, of course, so why not add another little pc. inside.  That way, no matter which direction your ink pad is sitting on your table, you will be able to see a color label showing.  Make sense?

In the Occasions Mini Catalog (pg. 23) you will find a bundle which will save you 15% off the flower set & matching punch shown.  If you like this stamp set (Petal Potpourri) you might want to consider getting it before the end of May.  The stamp did NOT find its way into the new StampinUP Catty unfortunately.  The Flower Medallion Punch did get carried over because there's a couple other sets to go with it.

Fabulous Four by Stampin'UP

Sorry you're sick- get better quick!  That's the verse on todays card sample.  I received this swap from Liz Orr at a demo event the first part of May.

Liz used punches to make her lady bug and then of course added googly eyes!  The words that are mentioned above come from the StampinUP set "Fabulous Four".  If you don't own this set, you have plenty of time since it's in the brand new catalog as well as the current one.

The little box below was on display in Champaign IL at the demo event also.  I'm sorry, I can't remember who made that sample.

Retiring StampinUP Mixed Bunch

This card project today shows 3 different views so I hope the pictures tell the story well enough about this card.  I don't know who the creator was but it came from a basket swap at a recent demo event.

Anyway, on the front you will see the words Feel Better.  On the inside it says "better get better" with a little tissue box.  How cute is that?  The third pic just shows the folding part from the side.

The flower is from the retiring StampinUP set called "Mixed Bunch".  The stamp set and matching punch are both bidding farewell. !! Let me know if you are interested in these 2 items before they are gone.

Guy Greetings by StampinUP

The very masculine stamp set called "Guy Greetings" made its way from the Occasions Mini into the brand new annual catalog.  I did not get this set before, but now I think I might since it has been carried over.  I have a sample below made from the dress shoes in this set.

All 3 card samples were on display at a recent demo event I attended in Champaign IL.  Unfortunately, the only creator I know of is Mary Ellen Stites for the Guy Greetings Card.  The other 2 are unknown, sorry.

The Bird Builder Punch by StampinUP

The 2 card samples today have 1 thing in common.......you guessed it- the Bird Builder Punch.  I use both this one, and the Owl Builder Punch a lot.  If you like these both and don't own them both, you might want to consider getting them before the new catalog goes live on June 2nd.

Both these punches are marked $16.95 currently, and they will go up to $18 each in the new book.  Some other StampinUP punches will be marked a little higher as well, so please ask me if there is a certain punch you might be interested in. (just wanted to give you a heads up).

Gold Soiee Designer Series Paper

Both card samples today feature a couple of StampinUP's ever-poplular DSP (designer series paper).  The first card shows "Gold Soiee" and the 2nd card shows "Flowerpot".  Both of these DSP packs are retiring but HAVE NO FEAR.......there are plenty more beautiful papers to pick from in the new catalog!! (now there's a shocker right?)

Yes, StampinUP definitely has that down pat don't they?  Every year I say, "Lori, you don't need anymore DSP"!  Well, of course I never listen to myself (LOL) and I order new and fresh!!  I can't help myself though, because the paper just gets more and more beautiful every year.  Anyone else out there have a HUGE stash of BEAUTIFUL 12 x 12 paper?  I've resigned myself to the fact that I am VERY weak and I figure if you can't beat 'em - join 'em!  It's ok, I know you and I are not alone.  :)

I "Choose Happiness" & The Brand New SU Catty!

YIPPEE, HOORAY, AND A BIG WHOO HOO!!  I have all my StampinUP Catalogs in my living room!!

My pre-order new catalog items arrived today along with my very own new catalog in the box.  It is FABULOUS!!  No worries, I have plenty of extra books so please request your copy today!

The card sample below features the set "Choose Happiness".  This set made it to the new book so thats' a good thing.  I like it a lot, and have another sample to show tomorrow with the same set so please check back.
