"Work of Art" with a few "Thoughts & Prayers"

Can you guess which 2 stamp sets I used on the featured card today?

I'm SO glad both these stamp sets will be sticking around and will NOT be retiring!  I love "Work of Art" and "Thoughts & Prayers" too.

This card is super easy, but the gals who made it at class thought it was great.  Sometimes the simplicity of a project is really appreciated when attendees come to class after a hard day at work!

Color Scheme:  Marina Mist, Soft Suede, and Vanilla

Thanks for stopping by.  Lori

Fun Fold w/ From the Herd

The "Itty Bitty Banners" set is retiring unfortunately (the congratulations on the front of my card today).  This set is on page 79 in the Annual Catty.  The good news is the matching "Bitty Banners Framelits Dies" are sticking around.  StampinUP must have a new set for us that will go with these banners again.  At least I hope that is the case.

Anyway, I totally C.A.S.E.D todays card from someplace but I can't remember where (sorry).  I love the "Hardwood" background stamp and the "From the Herd" set!  Put them both together along with a fun and different fold & you have a barnyard card :)

Color Scheme:  Real Red, Chocolate Chip, and Naturals White.

Thanks very much for blogging with me today.  I appreciate your time.  Lori Helvick

Retiring SU Products & Perfect Polka Dots

Today the Retiring StampinUP Product List was posted.  I haven't had much time yet to check it out in detail but I did notice a couple things early on.......

1)  Lovely As A Tree stamp set is sticking around for yet another year
2)  Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder is going :(   that's my very sad face!

The card I'm posting today was made by Carol W. and she used the Big Shot Embossing Folder that I'm talking about -- "Perfect Polka Dots".  It is absolutely, by far, my most personal "go-to" folder when I want a little texture on my card.  Yes, I am sad to see it go BUT........very anxious to see what fabulous folder will be taking its place!!

If you have not viewed the Retired List yet you may see the items by doing this:

  • Click on the Weekly Deals Tab at the top of my blog
  • Click on Retiring Products (on the left-hand side)
  • You can then scroll thru all the StampinUP items that are retiring
-OR-  If you would like a PDF just send me an e-mail request.  I can give you a list that is in "Alpha Order" or a list that is in "Page Order" (easier when going thru your SU catalog).  I would be happy to help you out with all of this, so just let me know.

Thanks for stopping by. Oh, and just a side note-- the "Hexagon Hive Thinlit" (also used on this card sample) is sticking around.  Now go stamp something....... but first you better order that "Perfect Polka Dots" Folder if you don't have it!!  LOL  Lori

Painted Petals Set & Spring Flowers EF

The card today was very "easy-peasy" !  Color Scheme:  Naturals White, Strawberry Slush, and Coastal Cabana.  Don't forget that batch of In-Colors will be retiring VERY soon (Slush, Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe and Baked Brown Sugar).  You might want to consider stocking up on any card stock and ink refills that you need.  Once the retiring list is posted on April 21st- THEY WILL GO LIKE HOTCAKES!!

Anyway, for this card I used the stamp set "Painted Petals" and the "Spring Flowers" Textured Embossing Folder.  Both these items are shown on pg. 19 of the Occasions Mini Catalog.  If you have any questions about this very simple card, don't hesitate to let me know.

I appreciate you stopping by.  Please check back on a regular basis, as I post daily.  Thanks- Lori

Blooming with Kindness & Sheltering Tree

Both cards today were made by Debbie K. from Sterling IL.  She is a very talented stamper/demo!  Her and Mary B. put on a FABULOUS Card Buffet every month.  If you live in that area, please let me know and I can hook you up with those 2 ladies.  :)

The first card features "Blooming with Kindness" (pg. 56- Annual Catalog).  Color Scheme:  White, Night of Navy and Sahara Sand.  Punches used:  Banner, Bitty Butterfly, and Project Life Corner Punch.

The second card features "Sheltering Tree" (pg. 22- Occasions Mini).  Color Scheme:  Pistachio Pudding, White, Chocolate Chip, and Blushing Bride.  Debbie used the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack for the 3 little flowers.  Then of course, 3 pearls finished this card off quite nicely.

Let me know please if you have any questions about the 2 cards.  Also, you may click on the item number below each picture of StampinUP products used.  This will take you to my on-line store (open 24-7).

Thanks very much-  Lori Helvick

Bootiful Occasions by StampinUP

On page 136 in the Annual StampinUP Catalog, you will find the stamp set used on todays card project. Kelly I. of Peoria IL made this for our recent demo swap.  Thanks Kelly for sharing your card idea for "Bootiful Occasions".

Color Scheme:  White, Blushing Bride, and Garden Green.

This 2nd card today has a very fun lay-out to C.A.S.E. if you would like.  I've made many different cards like this with a wide variety of papers, colors, and stamps.  This design is easily adaptable to fit supplies you already have on hand.  Always remember in card making that every design can be "tweeked" to make it your own!  You DO NOT have to copy a card idea exactly and if you don't have the same supplies needed.....no worries!!

Thank you for stopping by.  I appreciate your time-  Lori

Walk Down Memory Lane W/ the "Sheltering Tree"

Today's sample was made by Mary B. for a recent demo swap.  Very clever huh?  Recognize an old favorite item from your childhood?  I used to LOVE my Etch-a-Sketch!!  Do they still make those things?

Anyway, thanks Mary for bringing me back to my younger days.  :)   It has been awhile......

Stamp Happy!!  Lori

Butterflies Thinlits Dies

This card sample today was made by Nancy L. of Abingdon IL.  Color Scheme:  White and Wisteria Wonder.  We used this as one of the projects for our stamping event the end of March.

The textured background on the white was made with the Big Shot and the Lovely Lace emboss folder.  3 jewels were put in the center of the white butterfly for accent.

Thanks very much for blogging with me.  Lori Helvick- StampinUP Demo since 1999

Just Sayin' by StampinUP

The card today features the Word Bubbles Framelits Dies along with the "Just Sayin" Stamp Set.  Color Scheme:  Black, White and Tempting Turquoise.

I'm not sure if the designer was Debbie or Mary but this was a Card Buffet card from last year I believe.  I made this "phone card" on one of my road trips to Sterling, IL.

Thanks for stopping by.  Lori

Something Lacy BG Stamp & More Room Pics

The card sample today was made by Sheilla L. of Princeton.  (our recent demo swap)  She used the single background stamp called "Something Lacy" from the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Also, here are the final 2 pics of my craft room.....Lori's Stampin' Den.  I appreciate you looking, and hopefully you have a cool storage idea of your own that you would like to share.  You can e-mail that privately to me or post a comment here on my blog.  That way, we all can learn cool things together!!

Thanks for stopping by-  Lori Helvick StampinUP Demo Since 1999

Punch and Ribbon Storage area

I mentioned the Wolf wallpaper border that is staying for now. (hence the name Lori's Stampin' Den)
Also, I now feel like I'm "Stamping with Wolves" LOL- I know very cheesy :)
Yes, that is a real wood burning fireplace that works.  This next winter of course I will just move all the paper items from the ledge.  There are some really old 3-D items on display, but they are still good ideas to switch up with some current stamp sets.  I hope you liked my "tour" !

Balloon Bash & More Craft Rm Organization

Like I mentioned in yesterdays post, I did take several pictures of my new craft room.  Today I have 3 more with the final 2 pics showing on Sunday.  Anyway, I am pretty proud (in case you haven't noticed) because this is the first time since March of 2006 that I have had ALL my stamping things together in one area of the house!  WHOO-HOO!!  (For all you Galesburg IL area gals, this is when I moved to Peoria).  Yes, it has been 9 years already!

Anyway, the card sample below was a class project recently.  The gals said they liked the color scheme (Elegant Eggplant, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow, and White).  I used the stamp set "Balloon Bash" from the Occasions Mini (pg. 13).  Remember this book expires June 2nd, so there is still time to pick your favorites from there.

If you have any questions about the card today, please leave your inquiry here, or send an e-mail.  I appreciate your comments too.  Thanks- Lori

Inspired by Connie B.

I mentioned this is my "pride & joy" right?
Well, this is another side of the cubby unit showing.
(Framelits & Embossing Folders needed a home).

AND the third side!!  (the 4th side I didn't take a pic of).
It just has some retired StampinUP colors stored there.
Yes, that is 2 Big Shots and 1 Texture Boutique Machine you see.
What can I say, I like my "cool tools"!!

I had to think of a way to cover some pipes & a fuse box on the wall.
Al had some ugly curtain up there before.
What do you think of my card display version of a curtain?
WAY better huh?
